Saturday Music Classes

Tuition-free music classes are offered from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays at the Desert Foothills Library in Cave Creek, Arizona. Students of all ages are welcome to participate at different times during the 3 hour period. Adults may attend classes with their children. Registration is required for all Saturday classes.

Saturday Singing is for students who desire to learn to sing in a choir.

This class prepares students to join the Jubilate A Capella Choir.

Kira Teaching Rhythm Chart

A fun-filled musicianship class for infants through adults that explores matching pitch, rhythm band, group singing, music theory, and reading music.

Tuesday 3:30-4:15pm Intermediate String Ensemble | Desert Foothills Library

For students who are comfortable with their instrument and can read and play notes in first position. This class moves at a moderate pace with a focus on technique, music theory, reading music, and playing together in a string ensemble. Students will participate in the end of semester recitals. Instructor: Sonja Prychitko

Tuesday 4:15-5:15pm Advanced String Ensemble | Desert Foothills Library

For students who are comfortable with their instrument and can read and play notes beyond first position. This class moves at a faster pace with a focus on technique, playing together in a group, and studying the different styles of master composers. Students will participate in the end of semester recitals. Instructor: Sonja Prychitko

Wednesday 4:00-5:15pm Beginning Violin & Cello Class | The Holland Center

This combined class focuses on the mechanics of playing the violin and cello, and reading simple notes and rhythms. Violin students arrive at 4:00pm, cello students at 4:30pm, with a 15 minute overlap where both groups participate together. Class is limited in size. Students will participate in the end of semester recitals. Instructors: Bella Schwerin & Laya Field

Wednesday 5:15-6:15pm Jubilate A Capella Choir | The Holland Center

For students age 9 and older, this class touches on bel canto vocal instruction and the basic principles for singing in a choir. The focus is on developing a musical ear and working together as a team. Students will participate in the end of semester recitals, with the option of singing at other musical events throughout the semester. Instructor: Laya Field​

Thursday 4:00-5:00pm Littles on Fiddles | The Holland Center

This is a special class for young students, ages 4-5, who desire to play the violin. The class focuses on the mechanics of playing the violin and reading simple notes and rhythms on the treble clef and is geared toward young children. An interview with the instructor is required in order to join this class. Students will participate in the end of semester recitals. Instructor: Laya Field

Thursday 5:00-6:00pm Beginning String Ensemble | The Holland Center

For students learning to play violin, viola, and cello and who are beginning to read music. This class focuses on playing together in a string ensemble moving at a beginner-level pace with a focus on the joy of musical interaction. Students participate in the end of semester recitals. Instructor: Laya Field

Private Lessons​

Private lessons for violin, viola, cello, voice, piano, and guitar are available in person with some options to learn online. Students participate in the end of semester recitals. Instructors: Laya Field (beginning violin, viola, cello and beginning-advanced voice), Sonja Prychitko (intermediate-advanced violin and viola), Bella Schwerin (cello), John Gogolewski (online piano, guitar), Harrison Cole (online piano and keyboard during summers only).
