Arabella Schwerin

Cello

Arabella Schwerin recently moved to the Phoenix area as a professional cellist, strings teacher, and immersive design artist. Originally from Iowa, Arabella moved to Kansas for undergrad studies in music, and then to Florida for graduate studies. Over the past five years she has been performing in symphonies, chamber concerts, new music ensembles, and solo recitals as a professional cellist. This has taken her all over the US, Dominican Republic, and Europe.

Arabella has been teaching students at various levels as well as individuals with physical and mental special needs for 6 years. Her goal as a private instructor is to encourage the discovery of each student’s unique success and help to develop the necessary fundamentals to reach their goals. In a first lesson, she prioritizes physical awareness and understanding on the instrument, and the ability to produce a good sound. Technical ability is important, however, Arabella believes it is crucial to help the student discover a healthy love for music and the instrument above all.

She values imagination, creativity, and passion for the cello, and encourages her students to adopt these values as they work towards individual success. Success varies for everyone and Arabella loves finding new and different ways to connect cello and music to other skills or passions for her students mentally and physically. Joy for music cannot be taught, but she is a strong believer that it can be facilitated.

Arabella is an advocate and lover of new music and creating new ways to experience a recital or concert through immersive design and fluxus artistry. She has won awards, grants, and toured with commissions for her designs, concert experiences, and installations.

When she is away from music, Arabella likes to hike, create art, and is passionate about rock climbing.
